he did two things. He touched the hearts of millions across the globe when he honored his dad, his “hero.” And he left us all wanting to know more about the story of him and his dad. It was an enormous honor to be selected to tell this story for Dad Saves America. This film was a lot of firsts for me. My first time making a deaf film, first time working with an Oscar winning actor, and my first time premiering at Tribeca Film Festival. To My Father has since won the Best Short Doc at Los Angeles International Film Fest, Overall Audience Choice at Heartland’s Indy Shorts Fest, Grand Prize at Anthem Film Fest, and is continuing it’s festival run. It’s a good story.
